Image compressor

Drop your photos in. They're compressed on your device and never uploaded.

    Compress images without uploading them

Most online compressors send your photos to a server. This one doesn't. Your browser does all the work, so compression is instant, there's no file size limit, and private images stay private.

Big photos slow websites down and bounce back from email. A typical 4 MB phone photo resized to 1920 pixels wide and saved as WebP at 80% quality usually drops to around 200 to 400 KB, with no visible difference on screen.

    Best settings for common jobs

For websites and blogs, use WebP at 75 to 80% and 1920 pixels or less. For email attachments, use JPEG at 80% and 1280 pixels. For Instagram, 1080 pixels wide is the platform's native size. For printing, keep the original size and use 90% or higher.

    Questions people ask

    Are my images uploaded?

No. Images are compressed by your own browser using its built-in graphics engine. They never leave your device, so it's safe for private photos and documents.

    Which format should I choose?

WebP gives the smallest files and works in all modern browsers and most websites. Choose JPEG for maximum compatibility, such as email attachments or older systems. PNG keeps sharp edges and transparency but is larger.

What quality setting should I use?

75 to 80% is the sweet spot for photos: files shrink dramatically and the difference is hard to see. Go higher for printing, lower for thumbnails.

Can it convert iPhone HEIC photos?

Only if your browser can open HEIC files, which Safari on Mac and iPhone can. On other browsers, export the photo as JPEG first.

Why is my PNG barely smaller?

PNG is lossless, so the quality slider doesn't apply. Resize it smaller or switch to WebP or JPEG for big savings.
