How the typing test works
Type each word and press space to move to the next one. Correct words turn blue, mistakes turn red. When the timer runs out you get your speed in words per minute (WPM) and your accuracy.
WPM uses the standard definition: every five correct characters, including spaces, count as one word. That keeps the score fair whether the test throws long or short words at you, and it matches how typing tests for jobs are scored.
Typing speed benchmarks
Under 30 WPM is a beginner pace. Around 40 WPM is average. 60 to 70 WPM is a strong professional speed, and anything over 90 WPM puts you among the fastest typists. Take the 60-second test a few times and use your average.

Questions people ask
What is a good typing speed?
The average typist manages about 40 words per minute. 60 to 70 WPM is fast enough for most office jobs, and professional typists often reach 80 or more.
How is WPM calculated?
Words per minute counts every 5 correctly typed characters, including spaces, as one word, then divides by the minutes taken. This standard measure makes long and short words fair.
What does accuracy mean?
Accuracy is the share of characters you typed correctly. Aim for 95% or higher before chasing speed, since fixing mistakes costs more time than typing carefully.
How can I type faster?
Keep your fingers on the home row (ASDF and JKL;), look at the screen instead of the keys, and practise for 10 to 15 minutes a day. Speed follows accuracy.
